I stayed at the Rutledge house and had probably the best experience of my life! Everyone there treated us fantastic. Think of it like a retreat where you can actually focus on yourself, without all of lifes hassles. I was in a dark place when I found this place. I am from Kentucky where places like this simply don't exist. They asked me some questions to make sure I qualified, and I'm glad I did! They helped me a lot and were able to get my medications right as well as give me a bunch of tools to help cope with society. They diagnosed me as well. I really can't speak highly enough. 5* for sure and I would add more if I could. If you're wanting to find yourself again and serious about your mental health, trust me, Don't hesitate!💯 😁 Edit: I went to the Murfreesboro location recently as well and feel obligated to express my appreciation there as well. Everyone treated me so nicely which allowed me to adjust and feel comfortable much faster. The staff was great as well as the amenities! These places allow smoking but in designated area so as to not interfere with people who do not choose to do so. A BIG thank you to everyone!!
We utilize a variety of treatment modalities to teach our patients the coping skills they need to find stability and discover their self-awareness.
Adult ADHD can manifest in various ways, but here are common symptoms:
Struggling to focus on tasks, becoming easily distracted, and frequently making careless mistakes are hallmark signs of disorder in adults. This challenge can affect work performance, relationships, and overall quality of life.
Acting without thinking, interrupting others during conversations, and difficulty waiting for a turn in activities are common behaviors. Impulsivity is often associated with an increased risk of abuse liability, as noted in studies by experts like Wilens T and Biederman et al 2006.
Adults with ADHD may feel restless, exhibit constant movement, and struggle to sit still for extended periods. These symptoms in adults differ slightly from those seen in disorder in children but remain impactful.
Procrastination, difficulty prioritizing tasks, and frequently forgetting appointments or arriving late are significant challenges. Addressing these issues with therapy for adults, as supported by resources like the Cleveland Clinic and research by Reimherr FW and Arnold LE, can lead to meaningful improvements.
At Nashville Mental Health, we take a comprehensive and individualized approach to treating adult ADHD, focusing on evidence-based methods to improve daily life and overall well-being. By combining behavioral therapy, medication management, and skill development, we address the unique challenges faced by adults with ADHD, including symptoms in adults such as difficulty with attention span, mood swings, and task management.
Our therapists help you develop strategies for time management, organizational skills, and task prioritization to manage common complaints like impulsivity and hot temper effectively. This approach is rooted in evidence-based techniques and tailored to address common type presentations, including combined type and predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type ADHD.
Through CBT, we assist you in identifying and challenging negative thought patterns that contribute to depressive disorders and other mental health conditions. This therapy helps manage symptoms such as distractibility and impulsivity while promoting therapeutic effects for emotional regulation.
Our health care providers specialize in prescribing and monitoring stimulants in patients, including long-acting stimulants and nonstimulant medication options. These treatments address the mechanism of action underlying ADHD while minimizing mild side effects such as dry mouth, elevated diastolic blood pressure, or sexual dysfunction.
We emphasize building practical skills, including communication, problem-solving, and stress management, to enhance your ability to cope with life’s challenges. These techniques help reduce abuse potential and support sustainable improvement in your daily life.
Our team recommends integrating nutrition, regular exercise, and proper sleep hygiene into your routine to support overall health and optimize ADHD symptom management, as a well-rounded lifestyle can significantly enhance focus and emotional stability.
In group sessions, you can connect with others facing similar challenges, share experiences, and learn beneficial treatment options. Group therapy fosters community and provides additional tools for managing ADHD and co-occurring conditions like major depression or comorbid depression.
